BNP is excited to team up with Children’s Hospital Colorado to make a difference in the lives of more than 230,000 children who are served each year by the hospital and have an impact on future generations of kids who will benefit from the hospital’s pioneering research.  On June 16th, several of our colleagues will be riding the Denver Century to support Children’s Colorado, and we hope you will join us by making a gift that will be matched dollar-for-dollar by BNP.

We are riding to support kids like Eli and their dedicated and compassionate caregivers.  Eli was diagnosed in utero with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), a condition that occurs when the diaphragm fails to fully develop, allowing the abdominal organs to move into the baby’s chest cavity. This can prevent lung growth and cause other serious health issues.  Statistics showed that, at best, Eli had a 50 percent chance of survival.

Eli was born at at Children’s Hospital Colorado on April 27, 2017.  He spent 47 days in our NICU, and, today, his parents are busy planning his first birthday party coming up next week.  Eli also has occasional follow-up visits with Dr. Liechty, whom the family has affectionately nicknamed “Batman.”

“He’s our superhero,” Eli’s mom, Debbie, explains. “He was our quarterback and our constant. He saved Eli’s life.”
