Thomas' parents first knew something was wrong with their nearly 4-year-old son when he complained of severe hip pain. The military family was stationed in England, and doctors there tested Thomas for a variety of different conditions. Bloodwork revealed that he had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After being treated in Cambridge, England for eight months, the U.S. Air Force transferred the family to the Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, so Thomas could begin the Long Term Maintenance phase of his treatment at Children's Colorado in Colorado Springs. In November 2016, after three years and four months of chemotherapy, Thomas' treatment was completed. He recently celebrated a year without relapse. When he grows up, this gregarious little boy wants to be an adventurer and explorer.
