Sophia was just 3 years old when she was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor known as craniopharyngioma. Sophia and her family travelled from their home in New Mexico to Children’s Hospital Colorado and lived in the area for five months while Sophia underwent intensive treatment. The cancer dramatically impacted her vision, but after surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, the tumor is mostly gone. Today, Sophia is a spunky, joyful little girl who recently started kindergarten. She loves horses – especially her pet pony “Crouton.” She also loves to sing and dreams of someday being on “American Idol.”
