Exciting news! Eleven-year-old Hunter Vickers, after being the inspiration for his whole family to participate in the Carbon Valley Half Marathon since 2013, is excited to be running the half marathon himself!
The Vickers Family has made it a point to participate in the Carbon Valley events because of Hunter’s autism diagnosis. The event raises money for autism research through the Children’s Hospital of Colorado.
The Carbon Valley Half Marathon has a chance to raise $100,000 this year, and with your help we will get there.
Every year the Vickers family and friends seek out ways to increase donations by doing more than the half marathon.
This year, Hunter took it upon himself to set the goal of running the whole 13.1 miles, which is a lofty goal for anyone, let alone an 11-year-old. He will have tons of support and encouragement along the way, so please join us in showing your support for his brave goal and donate.
To help him get to the finish line, we are welcoming of your support, whether it be cheering at the event, monetary donations through the website, or a note of encouragement that we can read to him along the way, we appreciate your help.
My Personal Web Log
Hunter completed a 7.1 mile training run yesterday, he ate a bag of skittles and felt great the whole time!
I told him I was going to carry an umbrella on race day and shade him from the sun with it. He said he didn't want it as he thinks it would be cheating and he doesn't want to be disqualified.
