Welcome to Team RADIOACTIVE's Site!
The Pediatric Radiology department at Children's Hospital Colorado created team RADIOACTIVE – a team of radiologists, technologists, nurses, advanced practice providers, researchers, administrators, and our friends & family – to ride and fundraise for the Courage Classic. As you may already know, the Courage Classic is Children's Hospital’s biggest annual fundraiser, with all the donated money going directly to helping patients and families through family-centered services and support, groundbreaking research, and community outreach.
The 30th Courage Classic takes place July 18th & 19th 2020 and includes cycling over multiple passes in Eagle and Summit Counties. Team RADIOACTIVE is dedicated to riding and fundraising but we need your help!
In 2019, we raised nearly $16k, which was amazing. However, in 2020, we have the goal of raising $50,000 which will allow us to help direct the funds we raise – and we have lots of ideas! Wouldn’t it be great to direct this money towards a dedicated therapy dog for the Radiology department?
Children’s Hospital currently has a team of 3 medical “dogtors” who are full-time employees. The Medical Dog program began in early 2019 with Ralph being the first member of the team; siblings Halo and Galaxy joining later in 2019. Medical Dog programs are scientifically validated to reduce stress hormones surrounding medical interventions. Other institutions have had great success with Medical Dogs in the Radiology department, and we think one would be a great addition to our department and institution!
We know the good work that is done at Children's Hospital Colorado and aim to support the mission by riding this ride and taking part in the fabulous community that shows up each year to do the same. We’ll do our part and donating to our team is a great way to show your commitment for Children’s Hospital Colorado, children’s healthcare, and of course the Department of Pediatric Radiology
