This is Brea's story: On April 25, 2019 we went to Rose Medical Center for the birth of our daughter, Brea Dodero. We were very excited to add a girl to our family of two boys at the time, Vinny 10 years old, and Brody, 3. Shortly after Brea’s birth, she was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and we were told that she would need three major heart surgeries . We knew the best place for Brea was Children’s Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. We have had both of our boys there for care in the past and trust the Doctors and staff. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have a Children’s hospital so close to our Brighton home. We stayed with Brea for 36 days after she was born for her first open heart procedure and then for a shorter stay of 6 days for her second open heart procedure. She is doing so well and celebrated her first birthday in April! Our little princess is a fighter! We have loved having her home and love to see her learn and grow. We know that she will have to return to a Children’s again for one more surgery and are so grateful for all those who have taken such excellent care of our little treasure.
Thank you for your support and donation to the Cardiac Climbers and Brea's riders; Kyle, Vinny, AJ and Josef!
