WHY AM I RIDING 100 MILES AROUND METRO DENVER ON JULY 17?
Because I’m a Children’s mom & nurse and this wonderful hospital needs our donations more than ever.
Children’s was there for us when our daughter, Whitney, developed serious heart complications from an H1N1 (swine flu) infection and they’re currently taking amazing care of our son, Elias, as he recovers from a traumatic sports injury in the midst of the Covid 19 crisis! Of course, as a nurse at Children’s, I get to see firsthand all the incredible, creative ways that Children’s meets the specialized needs of babies and kids. It’s an honor to work at a Pediatric Hospital that was recently ranked #6 in the nation for its awesomeness.
This year I'm riding with the Cardiac Climbers team in honor of my daughter, Whitney, a former patient whose heart was healed at the Children's Heart Institute after numerous hospitalizations and 3 heart procedures (viral myocarditis & incessant ectopic atrial tachycardia). I'll also ride with gratitude for the amazing cardiac specialists and compassionate nurses in the Heart Institute who took such good care of Whitney and our whole family during a harrowing few years. #CardiacClimbers
I'll also be riding in honor of my son, Elias, a current orthopedic patient who hopes to be back on the soccer field by the end of summer under the care of the renowned CHCO Youth Sports Medicine Program. We are so grateful for this wonderful team of top Ortho docs and Physical therapists!
Finally, I'll be riding for ALL of the courageous patients that I've had the privilege to care for in my 7 years as a nurse at Children's Hospital Colorado. Every day at work, I'm constantly in awe of our patients' resiliency and strength of spirit. Their courage moves me to tears. I'd love to see every single one of them leave the hospital to go home, fully-recovered and/or cured. More and more young patients ARE recovering and going home, thanks to ongoing research, medical advancements and continued specialized treatments, all of which require funding.... funding that the Courage Classic event helps to raise!
Please consider supporting my ride to join our critical fundraising efforts this year. Your donation is tax deductible and will directly help to provide lifesaving care for children at the region's only nonprofit pediatric hospital. And, thanks for sending positive thoughts and prayers our way during my ride on July 17.
