This July I will be riding in the Courage Classic for the first time. For those of you who don’t know, the Courage Classic is one of Children’s Hospital’s largest fundraisers. The money raised will provide lifesaving care for the sweet kids at the hospital. I found out about the Courage Classic last year when my sister signed up and I came along to train with her. Although I did not compete in the tour last year, being around the families, riders, and volunteers during the tour I knew this was an event I wanted to be a part of.
As I was standing at the finish line cheering on riders as they crossed the finish line I was very emotional. Knowing what they were riding for, who they were riding for, and seeing those kids hand out the metals to the riders, I knew the that I’d be riding next year.
As many of you know, my sister is a nurse at Children’s Hospital and I couldn’t be prouder of her. My sister works so hard and cares so much about her patients. She does whatever it takes to make sure she gets the best care for her patients. I am lucky to have such a hardworking, passionate, and caring sister who is an even better nurse. I am thankful for the doctors and nurses at Children’s Hospital. I know that if anything were ever to happen to my niece Tia, that she will be in great hands. I know that any child who is admitted will get the best care possible. Last year I was able to see firsthand how much love and passion the nurses and doctors have for their patients and what they do.
This year I will be riding for the kids, nurses, and doctors. I will be riding to show how much I appreciate them and all that they do for these sweet, tiny humans and their families. It’s an amazing cause and I’m excited to be a part of such an exciting event.
