Sheila and I are signed up for the Courage Classic this year for the third time, schlepping our bodies and bicycles up arduous climbs on July 17th in pursuit of better health for kids. This year, I intend to punish myself just a little more, aiming to do the LONG ride of 80 miles and some insane amount of vertical climb well over a mile across three mountain passes! I hope you can be with me in spirit, and I hope I am around after the day in more than just spirit (don't worry)! We are asking for your support as we ride with hundreds of other riders to support Children's Hospital Colorado. THANK you so much to all who have helped Sheila and me reach our goal... we're done with the fundraising, just have the riding to go!
NOW...it's time to help other riders on the team! Please visit the Special Forces team page and donate to INDIVIDUAL riders to help them achieve their goals, as team donations don't count for individuals. Look for anyone with less than $500 raised.
Our team "Special Forces", representing the Children's Colorado Special Care Clinic, has grown this year to reflect our big multidisciplnary team. I am supporting the Courage Classic for patients like those I care for: Anna, Carlos, Jaxson, and Derek, just to name a few. While many kids are faced with a chronic condition with which they struggle mightily, these kids are challenged with multiple conditions at the same time. They make my ride seem like a piece of cake when I think about what they have to go through daily.
Did you know that Children's Colorado plays a special role in providing care for kids who can't get insurance? Several of my Special Care Clinic kids receive free care that they could get literally NOWHERE else. I am proud of the role we can play in caring for these kids, some of whom are undocumented but are an important part of our family. Please help me to help them by donating to my ride today! I have a goal of $500, with an earlier June deadline this year.
The Courage Classic is not only a personal challenge, but also an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for children. Please support us with a donation today!
