Last year about this time I introduced you to my 10-year-old grandson Haydan and his friend Madelyn. Madelyn was the little girl who was born with esophageal varices… a bleeding esophagus. She had been to Children’s hospital several times in her short life. Haydan, his brother Morgan, their mom (daughter Rachael) and I were going to ride in the Courage Classic… a bicycle ride at Copper Mountain, Colorado to support Children’s Hospital Colorado. All four of us were going to ride for Team Madelyn to help raise funds for kids like Madelyn.
I’m happy to report that we finished the ride in grand style and that Madelyn is doing well. In fact, that’s her standing in front of my left shoulder with Haydan right behind her and Morgan just in front to the right. The rest of the kids, along with their parents, grandparents and friends are Team Madelyn. Some of the kids in the photo also have a long relationship with Children’s. This is their way of saying “Thank You” to Colorado Children.
The kids have gotten a little older…and the old guy in the picture has gotten a lot older. But we’re all planning to do it again this year.
Please join us by contributing to the Courage Classic... or for that matter, come and ride with us! Lots of room on the road.
