Hunter may be small in stature, but he is mighty in spirit. Hunter was diagnosed with a severe form of scoliosis as a baby. The condition caused his back to grow with an extreme curve, compressing his spinal cord so much that he could barely walk. He faced the possibility of paralysis before his 4th birthday.
Desperate for a solution, his parents consulted specialists at Children’s Hospital Colorado, where doctors gave the family hope. They used cutting-edge technology to create a 3D model of Hunter’s tiny spine in preparation for an extremely complex spinal fusion surgery. The 10-hour procedure included multiple pediatric specialists and surgeons, all working together in a carefully choregraphed operation to successfully repair the little boy’s spine. Hunter can now walk, jump and play. His favorite super-hero is Flash Gordon and he wants to be a fireman when he grows up.
I ride for Hunter and so many other kids like him!
