My name is Melissa Devolve, and I am the captain of team "Courage From The Springs." Children's Hospital Colorado is ranked nationally as one of the top 10 pediatric hospitals in the country. Now a free-standing Children's Hospital Colorado has opened, bringing care to Southern Colorado's children! This team's focus is to raise money to support this new hospital.
The Courage Classic was started 31 years ago as a primary fundraiser for the hospital. Usually we train for months for this two-day tour. Although the 2020 ride has gone virtual in response to the COVID virus, our fundraising efforts are needed now more than ever. "Courage Can't Be Stopped!"
About my family...we are passionate supporters of Children's Hospital Colorado. Our oldest son, Noah, was born with a congenital heart defect and had open-heart surgery at Children's when he was 18 days old. As a young teen, he had to have four orthopedic surgeries (at Children's, of course!) to correct severe misalignment of his knees and ankles, and when he was 15 years old he suffered a traumatic brain injury and was airlifted to Children's from Colorado Springs for treatment. Noah is now 19 years old, and has grown into an amazing young man. He is a chemistry major and taking pre-med requirements at Rollins College in Florida and aspires to become an orthopedic or neuro surgeon at CHC.
We have experienced many departments at CHC, and the care and treatment we have received at every step, from front desk check-in to the consultations with the surgeons, has been unparalleled. We have driven more miles than we care to count going back and forth to Aurora and Highlands Ranch for Noah's treatments, but it is so worth it, knowing our child is getting the best, most phenomenal care available anywhere.
And now it's available in COLORADO SPRINGS!!!!!!!
Which is why I could not be more excited to captain this team in the 2020 Courage Classic! Please, join us, and be part of something amazing! Feel free to contact me with any questions!
